Types of Thailand visa

To visit Thailand, Indian nationals must first identify the type of passport based on your purpose of visit. Based on your purpose of travel and duration of stay, there are different types of Thailand visas.

Business visa

Apply for the business visa or the non-immigrant B visa if you are visiting Thailand for business purpose, internship, employment, or to attend a conference. The validity of visa is up to 3 months with a period of stay for each entry being 90 days. There are multiple entry options for non-immigrant business travellers. The application fee is ₹5,000 for single entry and ₹12,500 for multiple entry with validity of visa up to 1 year and ₹25,000 for multiple entry with validity of visa up to 3 years.

Tourist visa

 You need to apply for a tourist visa if you are travelling for tourism and leisure activities or for medical treatment. The validity of stay for single entry is 3 months and multiple entry is 6 months. The period of stay for each entry is 60 days, which can be extended for up to 30 days. The application fee for single entry is ₹2,500 and multiple entry is ₹12,500.

Transit visa

• Two color photographs.
• Confirmed travel tickets.
• Confirmation of travel plans to leave the country.

Long-term resident visa

This Long term resident program is aimed at attracting foreign nationals to stay in Thailand for a long term. The validity of the visa is 10 years with multiple entries. Period of stay for each entry is 1 year and the fee is ₹125,000.

Non-immigrant Visa (ED)

This is the visa for studying and research purposes in Thailand. This is a single entry visa with validity up to 3 months. The fee is ₹5000.

• Photographs.
• Acceptance letter
• Registration certificate of school or the university
• Approval letter from the Ministry of Education

Visa on arrival

Some countries are eligible for visa on arrival and India is on the list of eligible countries. Instead of applying for a visa beforehand, you can apply and receive the visa on arrival at the airport.The purpose of travel must be for tourism and its validity is only for 15 days.  India is also eligible for the E-VOA (E-Visa on arrival). The fee is 2000 TBH.

How to apply for a thailand visa for Indians

The application process involves filling and submitting the required documents. You need to apply through the Royal Thai embassy or consulate or you can use the e-visa platform. Indian citizens can apply for the Thailand visa through the Electronic Visa System (e-Visa). To apply for the Thailand visa, you need to first visit the official e-Visa website and create an account.

To create an account,

• Click on the Create Account button at the top right of the home page.
• If you are applying on your own, on the page that appears, click on the individual.
• Fill in the following details 
• Click on the Create Account button

Upon creating an account, you will receive a verification link with an activation link on the email-Id provided. Click on the link to activate your account.

After creating the account, click the sign-in button at the top right of the home page (near the create account button). Enter the email-Id and password to sign in.

To apply for a new visa

• After logging in, go to the dashboard, and click on the tab Apply for New Visa.
• Click on Apply for New Visa in the Manage application page.
• After that, you will land on a page where you need to fill your visa application details.
• The first one is to check your eligibility, where you need to fill in details.
• The next step is the applicant information, where you need to upload the bio-data page of your passport and also upload your photograph.
• On the next page, fill in your personal information.
• The upcoming pages ask you to fill in the travel document, address information, and employment details. Click on save and next.
• The third step is to fill out your travel information.
• On step four, upload your documents. Click on save and done.

On the Manage Visa Application page, you can edit or delete your application. 

To complete the payment, 

• Click on the Ready to Submit tab. 
• Select the checkbox near your application.
• Click on the Proceed to Payment tab on the top right of the page.
• Enter the necessary details and click on Pay Now. It is necessary that you check the payment details as the amount is non-refundable.

To check your application status, click on the Check Status tab on the Manage Visa Application page. To download your e-visa, click on the download tab right next to the check status tab.

Processing time

Apply in advance as the visa processing time can vary and it may take a few days to several weeks to process your visa.
